Blast Off 1 Space Exploration

Workshops

Particularly suitable for KS1 children this workshop examines rockets, astronauts and space travel. Children have to opportunity to dress as an astronaut and simulate being in a rocket. We take a brief look at the different types of rockets used over the years and how they work. The workshop is completed by designing and making our own space rocket and launching it in the playground!
A popular additional feature of this workshop is the ability to concentrate on particular missions - we can look at the First Man on the Moon - Neil Armstrong and Saturn V (Blast Off 1 Man on the Moon), or bring it right up to date and investigate Tim Peake and his journey to the International Space Station (Blast Off 1 Tim Peake). Please note than with Man on the Moon, the activity included is an interactive Saturn V Puzzle picture which participants make and take home, as opposed to a rocket build and launch.

Suitable for KS1, KS2
